Adventurous Swimmer: Start your open water swimming adventure

How To Upload A Swim

We have tried to make the full process of the challenge as easy as possible: Uploading each swim, keeping track of your progress, seeing your previous swims and even entering other challenges if you fancy!

We decided that the easiest way would be to log in to our website and have your own dedicated page to view your challenge progress. This page is only visible to you and is the one stop shop for your challenge.

Step 1 – Log in

From the home page, access the main menu at the top of the page and click on the “Winter Challenges” drop down menu.

From here you will see “Login / Logout”, click here to go to the Login page where you can enter your details and click Login

Once logged in  you will be given a summary of your User name and the Challenge you have entered

You will also now be able to see the “Your Winter Challenge 2024/25” in the main menu

Step 2 – Accessing your own dedicated page

When you hover over “Your Winter Challenge 2024/25” you will see the drop down menu

Click on the page which shows your Challenge and your user name (nobody else will see this but you)

This takes you to your Challenge page

As you can see from the screenshot above  there are a number of details summarised on your page

  • Your Progress

The progress bar will automatically fill as you submit each swim. The distance is predetermined by the challenge you selected

  • Current Distance / Distance Remaining

Alongside the progress bar the distance you have swam so far through your challenge is listed as well as the distance left for you to complete the challenge

  • Average Distance needed per week to finish by 1st March

This will update depending on the distance entered per swim as well as the amount of time left until the 1st March. Please be advised that you do not have to swim each week. Perhaps you may want to swim more while it is “warmer” – this is perfectly acceptable. Swim to your comfort level, do not push yourself  if it is dangerous

  • Personal Records

Just for fun, your longest swim, your shortest swim and the coldest temperature you have endured while participating in your challenge

Step 3 – Submitting a swim

Clicking on the Submit a Swim link will take you to an online form, if you are not already signed into a Google account you will have to log in to this now (Click Create Account if you not already have one)

Once signed in to Google the link should automatically go to your submission form. This is only accessible by you. Please make sure that the challenge name matches the one you have entered. Please also make sure that your name matches the first name given when you first registered for the challenge.

Enter the distance that you swam, you will only be able to enter numbers. Please note that this is meters and not yards

Clicking Next, the form will then ask what the water temperature was. This is optional, do not worry if you do not know or this wasn’t recorded. If you don’t know, please leave it blank. If you do know please remember that this is in degrees celsius.

Finally, clicking next will ask you to submit a screen shot of your swim. This can be taken from Strava, Garmin, Apple Fitness or any other fitness based app where your swim may have been recorded. If you do not own a watch or do not normally record your swim please Contact Us to let us know

When you complete your swim and upload it to the exercise app of your choice we politely ask that you mention the Adventurous Swimmer Winter Challenge and the name of your challenge in your title or description. We’d love to spread the word of the challenge as people can continue to sign up until February and it would mean a lot to us if you can help.

Once you have submitted the swim it will give you an option to view previous submissions. If you don’t need to view these then you can simply switch back to the Adventurous Swimmer webpage

Step 4 – Updating the progress page

The progress summary displayed on your challenge page will automatically update after you have submitted the form. However, sometimes it takes a while to update. This can be down to internet speeds and connections. This is normally updated within 1 to 2 hours (and sometimes requires logging off and then back on to Adventurous Swimmer). If this hasn’t updated in 24 hours please please Contact Us to let us know.

We hope that clears up any questions when submitting a swim but if you need anything please get in touch!

Well, what are you waiting for? Get swimming
